Meet the Cactus Revival crew!

We are Kate and Sara, two Mornington Peninsula-based mums who met working in environmental communications then took parental leave at the same time (not planned but lucky!) Now we're working together to contribute to the circular economy through a ‘slow fashion’ clothing brand for kids.

As new Mums it didn't take us long to learn how quickly kids can go through clothes. Amongst the food spills, paint splodges and holes in knees, kids clothing goes through a bit of wear and tear. Faced with a pile of seemingly unwearable clothes that we didn't want to see go to landfill, and the knowledge that Australia alone disposes of 6,000kgs of fashion and textile waste to landfill every 10 minutes (that's enough to fill the MCG two-and-a-half times over every year) the idea for Cactus Revival was born!

In between raising children, dogs, guinea pigs, a global pandemic, remote learning and moving house, Kate built her sewing skills while Sara developed our website and communications. We launched Cactus Revival and are thrilled to provide a practical way to help reduce textile waste going to landfill.

We work to wash, mend and up-cycle garments that may not be looking their best, but are far from “cactus”. We aim to embrace the beauty in the imperfect and like to think our clothing is ‘perfectly imperfect’ and we hope you do too!
