When chatting to customers at markets I’ve found that many people are interested in mending their own clothes, but they’re nervous to give it a go. I know I was too when I first tried mending my son’s clothes. I didn't want to mess it up.
But it’s all part of the process and once you get going, the sense of satisfaction you feel on completing the mend is a bit addictive!
So, if you’ve never learnt to mend and you’re keen to give it a go, check out our basic patching workshops!
We have workshops for all skill levels. Whether you've never picked up a needle and thread or you're a keen sewer keen to learn mending, these workshops are all about taking some time out, slowing down and coming away with the achievement of learning how to keep your clothes in rotation for longer.
In our beginner workshop you'll learn the stitches most commonly used in mending with step by step instructions, and then apply these to a denim patch.
For those with some stitching experience you’ll creatively mend your own jeans or denim item bringing it back to life!
All mending materials are provided (simply bring a denim or woven item in need of repair) No intimidating sewing machines are used, it’s just a needle and thread and tea and bikkies at your side; essential for stitching!
